Holdrick Concrete & Groundworks Ltd is a directly-employed crew working out of a yard in Sheffield S2. Brian Holdrick founded the firm in 1987; his son Adam took over as MD in 2019 and runs the day-to-day. Driveways, foundations and slabs across South Yorkshire, north Derbyshire and southern Nottinghamshire — every job run from first dig to handover by the same crew.

Every job starts with a site visit and a clear set of drawings. We mark levels, confirm drainage, set out reinforcement and lock in the pour date before any concrete moves.
From site clearance through groundworks, formwork, pour and finishing — the same six-person crew runs the job from first dig to handover. No subcontracted labour, no surprises on day three.

Typical 2026 pricing in South Yorkshire runs £80–£150 per square metre depending on finish — brushed concrete sits at the lower end, exposed aggregate and imprinted patterns cost more. Add base prep, kerb work and drainage line-by-line on the quote. Lead time from sign-off to pour is usually six to eight weeks in the busy season.
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
Front-garden driveways laid in porous materials (or with run-off directed to a permeable surface within the curtilage) sit under Permitted Development. Impervious surfaces over 5 m² need planning permission. Side and rear hardstanding rules differ — we walk this through on the site visit and flag anything that needs a householder application.
How long until I can park on a new concrete drive?
Foot traffic after 24 to 48 hours. Light cars after 7 days. Full design strength is reached at 28 days — heavy vans, skips and plant should wait that long. We hand over a written cure schedule with every pour.
Can you pour in winter?
Yes, above 5 °C with frost protection sheets and an air-entrained mix. We monitor ground temperature for 48 hours either side of the pour. March to October stays the most cost-effective window, but winter pours are routine — we lay roughly 30 per year between November and February.
Do you handle building control sign-off?
Yes. Structural calcs for foundations, plus BCO inspections at trench-fill, oversite and DPC level. We coordinate directly with the local LABC and supply the inspection-ready paperwork. You get a certified pour record on handover.
